UNILORIN expels final year student who beat lecturer into coma

The management of the University of Ilorin expelled a final year student, Salaudeen Waliu Aanuoluwa from the microbiology department after being convicted of assaulting a teacher in the same department.

A statement from the university’s director of corporate affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, revealed that the verdict was handed down by the student discipline committee where Salaudeen was arraigned on Monday, adding that “he has 48 days to appeal from the verdict with the vice-president. Chancellor in case he feels dissatisfied with the decision ”.
“Salaudeen has since been handed over to the police for other necessary measures,” Akogun added.

A letter written to Salaudeen by the University Registrar reads: “You will recall that you appeared before the Student Discipline Committee (SDC) to defend yourself against an allegation of misconduct brought against you.

After careful consideration of all the evidence before it, the committee was satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that the allegation of misconduct had been established against you.

He therefore recommender to the Vice-Chancellor who, in the exercise of the power conferred on him, ordered that you Salaudeen, Waliu Aanuoluwa, be expelled from the University.
