*TRAGEDY: How 3 Children Killed With Gun, 4 Others injured In Taraba.*

Calamity afflicted Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State as death of three minors were recorded and four others also reportedly sustained injuries while the children were playing with a dane gun in Didango Geita village.

David Iloyonomon, the Commissioner of Police, while confirming the incident, denied claims of an improvised explosive in the community.

Meanwhile, some villages around the community alleged it was an explosive device after hearing the blast of the gun.

However, the police chief said the children were killed by gunpowder explosion.

According to him, “the four other children that were playing under the tree were injured with one fatally injured and receiving treatment at the state’s specialist hospital located in Jalingo, the state capital.”

David, the commissioner identified the deceased children as Miracle Danjuma, 11 years old; Liyacheyan Bitrus, 12 years old; and Kefas Bitrus 11 years old.

He stated further that those who sustained various degrees of injuries are Joseph Danjuma, 8 years old; Leah Aluda, 8 years old; and Godbless Hassan, 7 years old; Christian Hassan, 7 years old; grandchildren of Danjuma Audu, the owner of an irrigation rice farm whom the children followed to assist on the farm.

Thenewskingdom confirmed from commissioner’s address that the command immediately deployed the anti bomb unit of the Nigeria Police Force to the scene, said they recovered pellets from a dane gun which was evident in the bodies of the deceased.

Stating that “On the receipt of the information, we deployed the anti bomb unit of the Nigeria Police Force who rushed to the scene, conducted a professional and thorough search and discovered that no exhibit is related to dynamite or IED recovered from the scene.”

“Findings revealed that the recovered pellets were used along with gun powder to make the ammunition”.
