Super Eagles Ignore New National Anthem, Recite ‘Arise O’ Compatriot – Details.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have allegedly, on Monday, sang the old national anthem, ‘Arise O Compatriot’, instead of the newly adopted ‘Nigeria We Hail Thee’, during their 2026 World Cup Qualifiers match against Benin Republic.
It was reported that the players sang the ‘old national anthem’ at the beginning of the match.
It should be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 29, signed the National Anthem Bill 2024 into law.
Meanwhile, the bill reinstated the old anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.” in replacement of the popular ‘Arise O Compatriot’.
