NAIRA MUTILATION: Bobrisky Pleads In Court, Makes Promises.
The popular Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has been convicted by the Federal High Court in Ikeja after pleading guilty to abuse of the Naira charge.
It would be recall that thenewskingdom has earlier reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested and filed a six-count charge against Bobrisky for abuse of the Naira, spraying of notes, and currency mutilation.
According to Information, Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Ikeja, while delivering the judgment on Friday, struck out counts five and six before eventually convicting Bobrisky for Naira abuse after he pleaded guilty to the offense.
Having read out counts to the hearing of transvestite, Bobrisky was thereafter asked about his comprehension of the charges presented, to which he affirmed, “Yes, I admit guilt.”
Meanwhile, just before his conviction, the socialite pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy, stating that he was ignorant of the law regarding the abuse of Naira notes.
While reacting to his claim, the judge asserted that ignorance is not an excuse.
According to Bobrisky, “My lord, I wish that you can give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money. I’m a social media influencer with over five million followers. I would do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money. I will not repeat it again my lord, I regret my actions my lord.”
Meanwhile, the cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, was unable to meet the bail conditions granted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Thursday April 4, 2024.
Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson disclosed this development saying “he has been granted administrative bail but has yet to meet bail conditions.”
He has been charged to court on Friday April 5, 2024…..
It should be recalled that thenewskingdom has earlier reported that this popular transvestite, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky was arrested on last Wednesday evening by personnel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos State. This was confirmed by the agency’s spokesman, Mr Dele Oyewale this morning.
According to the EFCC spokesman, Bobrisky was arrested for mutilation of naira notes and not for his lifestyle as a cross-dresser.
“It is true our boys arrested him yesterday evening in Lagos for naira abuse. We don’t have anything to do with his lifestyle (being a cross-dresser). He was suspected of committing an economic crime and that was the reason for his arrest,” Oyewale explained.
Bobrisky’s arrest comes barely 24 hours after the Nigeria Police Force stated that it lacked enough evidence to arrest him for same-sex activities.
The Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday said it could not arrest Bobrisky over calls to arrest the crossdresser.
There have been calls for Bobrisky’s arrest, especially after social media influencer and blogger, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan in recent videos condemned the award of Best Dressed Female to the cross-dresser at a Nollywood event.
However, the Force Public Relations Officers, Olumuyiwa Ademola told Channels TV on Tuesday that cross-dressers cannot be arrested because Nigeria has no law against cross-dressing.
He also said there is no evidence to support claims that cross-dressers also belong to the LGBTQ+ community.
