LAUTECH: Student Harassed As Provost Slaps Female Student – Details.
Information reached thenewskingdom disclosed that, on Thursday morning, there was a commotion at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin campus as a 300 female student was reportedly given a “dirty slap” by the Provost of the college, Prof Gbenga Adewale.
According to the report, the victim’s colleagues, whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, said they were about to sit for an examination, AEE 301, when the incident happened.
“Yes, she received a dirty slap in the exam hall while we were preparing to write AEE 301. I did not really know why it happened,” an eyewitness disclosed.
When trying to obtain information from the victim, the girl was weeping profusely and unable to utter a word.
Further investigations disclosed that the students were to write the CBT in two batches based on their faculties since there are two faculties in the college.
“The first batch was being sidelined. The girl raised her voice that it was the turn of her batch. The provost who was around tried to caution her, she made to speak again and before you say Jack Robinson a hot slap had landed on her cheeks, unleashed by the provost, Prof Adewale”. All attempt to speak with the provost were abortive as calls made to his mobile line were not answered even though he was on another call the first time just as a message sent to his line was ignored.
It should be recalled that cases of harassment of students in the college has been reported in the past most especially when internal security agents seen beating students with belt also during exams.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that the students had written a petition (but to whom is not yet clear) demanding a probe into the incident.
