Days after the shutdown of Kwara Hotels, the Kwara State Government has inaugurated a 10-man Steering Committee to look into how the hotel would be refurbished and come back with vibrancy.
The inauguration ceremony, which took place in the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology, had the Commissioner of the Ministry, Hon. Ibrahim Akaje, as the Chairman, Anthony Gana Abu, Director Staff Matters, Office of the Head of Service as the Secretary.
Other members of the Committee include Attorney General of the State and the Commissioner for Justice: Senior Ibrahim Sulyman Esq., Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development: Arc. Aliyu Muhammed Saifudeen, Commissioner for Finance: Mrs Florence Oyeyemi Olasunbo and General Manager Harmony Holdings, Mallam Abdulmajeed Abdullahi.
Other members are Ajeje Oluwaseyi Bamidele, representative from the Secretary to the State Government’s office, Special Adviser to the Governor on Strategy: Alhaji Saadu Salahudeen, Acting General Manager Kwara Hotel Limited, Mr Salami Moshood and Chief Omogbenle Adeyemi representative from Omogbenle Adeyemi and Co.
Speaking at the inauguration, Akaje stated that the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is committed to innovation and regeneration in every sector in the state to give the state a new pedigree, disclosing that the rationale behind the taking over of the hotels from Harmony Holdings and handing it over to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology, is an applaudable initiative to elevate the facility in terms of economic productivity and in terms of aesthetic facelift.
He assured Kwarans that the shutdown of the facility was to give way for rehabilitation and repositioning adding that this will bring back to life the ailing Kwara Hotels.
The Commissioner noted that the terms of reference of the Committee comprised mapping out strategies for the refurbishment of the facility, looking into the welfare of the staff, quantifying the asset and liability rates of the hotels.
He explained that the Committee is also expected to come up with a comprehensive by report that will guide the refurbishment and ebullient fixing of the hotels.
