*In Memoriam: Tayo Opaleye, Far Too Kind, Far Too Humane – Basit ,UNIOSUN ALUMNI President*

Today, we woke up to the shocking and sad news of the demise of my brother, Mr Tayo Opaleye, an alumnus of Osun State University, and a Staff of the Registry of our dear school. Perhaps, the most popular name in the transcript office is Tayo Opaleye who was popularly revered to as Mr. Tayo by many students and former students of the school. Although my encounter with him dates back to my days as an Undergraduate student at the University, we developed a cordial relationship almost immediately after my studentship.

Mr. Tayo was a very kind and humane individual who radiated joy and cheerfulness everywhere he went. Hardly is there any office in the University that he could not access, given his endearing character. This has also made him dear to many of us who would always look at him in our times of critical need.

My greatest respect and admiration for him lies in incorruptible nature as a devout civil servant, who understands his responsibilities to his job and people around him. Hence, he does not use his office, or any assistance rendered as a basis for extortion or place undue financial burden on anybody. He simply discharged his duties, without expecting nothing in return.

He is therefore an exemplary civil servant; and embodiment of the three principles of equity, justice and fairness. One of those who have contributed their might towards giving a good name to our dear Alma Mater, Osun State University. His passage is, therefore a loss to the Alumni Association, and the University community at large. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children and all that he left behind.
