FRESH ORDER: Tinubu Direct Companies to Revert to Old Price of Cement

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered all companies producing cement in Nigeria to revert to old prices following concurrent hike in the cost of the commodity.

Said by David Umahi, the Minister of Works, on Thursday after inspecting the BUA cement factory in Sokoto State.

According to Umahi, “Mr President insisted that these companies must revert to the status quo as far as this cement price is concerned in the best interest of common man.

“I want to encourage them to take note of the directive of Mr President in order to achieve a massive housing programme and the pronounced renewed hope agenda of concrete roads by the President,” he said.

It is recalls that bags of cement surged to N10,000 and 15,000 in Abuja, federal capital territory, from N5,000.

Sequel to cement hike in cement price, the cost of other building materials had also skyrocketed. Just a month ago, the government of Nigeria under the watch of Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, threatened to open the border for cement importation if manufacturers failed to cut down prices.
