A leading radio station in Kwara state, Diamond FM, has disclosed its readiness to partner with the umbrella body of online publishers in Kwara state, Kwara Online Publishers Association of Nigeria (KOPAN).
Giving the assurance on Friday when delegates of the association visited the station, the Supervisory Director of Diamond FM, Mr Afolabi Jolaoluwa popularly known as Jabulani, stressed the need for synergy among media practitioners.
“We really appreciate your visit and it gladdens our heart to hear that your secretariat is just beside us here. There is need for synergy among media practitioners and I assure you that Diamond FM is open to such partnership as you have stated.
“At Diamond FM, we always want to be identified with professionalism and we believe you will not derail as you have started very well. Although very young but Diamond FM has become a household name in Kwara state, the country at large and even world over as we have global coverage.”
Earlier, the chairman of the association, Ogbeni Hammed Adedayo Said who is also the publisher of Kwara Reporters said the visit was a harbinger of a mutually beneficially partnership.
In his words, “We thank you for receiving us with open arms despite the short notice, our visit is to intimate you of our presence in the neighbourhood and to ask for your partnership as we start operating our secretariat which is just beside you here.”
Said further commended the founder of the Radio Station, Chief Awotuyil for enhancing journalism practice in the state by providing an enabling working environment that is unprecedented in the history of Kwara state. He pointed out that this shows his love and passion for the welfare of practitioners in the state.
He explained that the association is the registered body for all publishers, editors and owners of general news platforms resident in any part of Kwara state.
According to him, the aim of establishing the association was to safeguard the freedom of the press and the freedom of online publishers to engage in legitimate professional activities among others.
The delegates were later taken on a tour of the facilities of the Radio Station including the Diamond Kiddies Park which is presumed to be one of the best in the North central part of Nigeria.
