Nothing less than four persons have been reportedly died in a stampede during the distribution of Ramadan gifts (zakat exercise) for the poor in Bauchi State.
According to the source, some other people, most especially women and children sustained various degrees of injuries during the incident.
It was revealed that the stampede occurred at the Shafa Holdings Company plc headquarters along Jos Road, on Sunday at about 10 am.
Information at thenewskingdom disposal revealed that currently, a 17-year-old girl, Naima Abdullahi, is receiving medical treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.
Ahmed Wakili, the police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident to journalists, assuring that the situation is currently under control.
According to him, Wakili reiterated that the police acted swiftly upon hearing the news, and the police commissioner encouraged the public to stay composed.
When visited the spot where incident occurred, the crowd had been dispersed, and the police vehicles were stationed in strategic location around the area.
Meanwhile, a few women are still waiting outside in anticipation of further disbursement.
