Odunolu ruling house of Oluronbi Compound, Ifon Osun in Orolu local government area has alerted the public, government and the relevant stakeholders in the Olufon chieftaincy matters to disregard a purported call for nomination of candidate(s) to fill the vacant Olufon stool from non existing Laojo ruling house and the use of a court dismissed 1988 Olufon chieftaincy declaration made by Jide Akinlaja Akinyooye, a self acclaimed leader of concerned princes of Orolu kingdom.
This position was made by the Directorate of Media, Research and Documentation of Odunolu ruling house whose turn is to produce the next Olufon and jointly signed by the trio of Prince Ahmed Adeyeye Olayode, Prince Wasiu Siyanbola and Prince Sulaiman Oyedotun, and available to newsmen on Wednesday.
It would be recalled that the 1988 Olufon chieftaincy declaration which was made during the period of interregnum was set aside by his lordship, Hon justice Olowoofoyeku of Osun State high court Osogbo in suit no Hos/127/88 between Bello Akintola Olagunju and 8 others and the government of Osun and 11 others wherein his lordship declared that the 1988 chieftaincy declaration was improperly made. Not minding the dismissal of other reliefs sought by the plaintiffs, the court also declared that the 1979 amended Olufon chieftaincy declaration which recognises five independent ruling houses is the susbisting instrument guiding the appointment of Olufon.
The royal family then call on the state government of osun to borrow a leaf from the administration of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola who stood its ground against all odds to respect the court decisions and used the 1979 chieftaincy declaration to appoint the immediate past Olufon, Oba Almaroof Magbagbeola from Olumoyero ruling house.
The family also called on the leadership of IPU to bewarry of antics of its former national publicity secretary, Jide Akinlaja Akinyooye on his acclaimed sensitisation drive on Obaship matters which is a calculated attempt to mislead, distort the rich Orolu history and create unnecessary confusions.
“We join a genuine call to expedite actions on the filling of the Olufon vacant stool, and equally appealed to the state government to respect the available judgements in our favour and allowed the kingmakers to perform their traditional duties without any interference,” the rulling house explained.
