Total pandemonium and complete unrest set-in in Kuriga town of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State when kidnappers invaded LEA Primary School, Kuriga (1), and abducted dozens of pupils. The number of people abducted couldn’t be affirmed as of reporting time, but residents said they were about 100.
The School head teacher and some other staff are reportedly among the victims.
Newskingdom was informed that the incident happened at 8:20am just immediately after the morning assembly on Thursday.
It was confirmed that the junior and senior secondary school relocated to the school building inside the Kuriga town few years past due to this insecurity issues.
According to Mr Shitu, a resident, who confirmed the incident, saying most of the pupils ran out of their classes for safety immediately they sighted the bandits on the school premises.
Also, another resident, Lawal Kuriga, told our correspondent that the kidnapped victims were thereafter marched into the forest.
It was reliably gathered as at the time of reporting this sad occurrence that there was no official reaction from the state government as the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, didn’t react to a text message sent to him.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, couldn’t also be reached on the phone and is yet to reply to a text message sent to him too.
